WALDORF, Md. — An investigation is underway in Charles County after a woman was shot in the parking lot of a mall on Thursday. This shooting is the result of an attempted robbery.
At 8 p.m., officers responded to calls for a shooting in the parking lot of Mall Circle.
At the scene, officers located a woman who had been shot in the arm. She was taken to an area hospital after the shooting with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
A preliminary investigation shows a woman was shot in the forearm during an attempted robbery. Police say she was getting in her car, which was parked near the food court, when two men approached her in a car. The men ordered her to get out of her vehicle and shot her during the robbery attempt.
Police say the suspects fled in an unknown vehicle.
Detectives are pursuing leads and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Johnson at 301-609-6453.
