DUNKIRK, Md. — Three men are in custody facing charges after hitting a trooper during a police chase on Tuesday through Calvert County. All three men are accused of stealing numerous items from a Harris Teeter in the area before attempting to drive away.

On Tuesday, June 11, just after 4 p.m., deputies responded to a theft in progress at a Harris Teeter grocery store on Ward Road in Dunkirk.

Once there, deputies noticed a white Nissan Altima with two men inside who police say were seen taking multiple items from the Harris Teeter without paying. The men then drove away from the store. Police spotted them driving southbound on Route 4 in the area of Lower Marlboro Road when they tried to pull them over.

When the suspects refused to stop, police started chasing them. The suspects were then seen speeding down Harvey Road in Huntingtown. They tried to ram a patrol car and continued driving away.

Near the area of Harvey Road and MacArthur Drive, two troopers attempted to deploy stop sticks. The men swerved to avoid the spikes, and ended up hitting one of the troopers. That trooper was flown to a hospital in Baltimore to be evaluated and treated, and has since been released.

Deputies took three men into custody in connection to the chase and theft, including Shadeed Gregory Graham, 23 of Capitol Heights, Malik Demencio Lewis, 27 of Hagerstown, and Jordan Green, 27 of Bowie.

All three suspects were taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, and theft: $1500 - $25,000.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Det. Mudd with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at (410) 535-2800 or email Michael.Mudd@calvertcountymd.gov
