2 middle school students robbed outside DC International School in NW

This is the same school where a string of robberies targeting students occurred in September of last year.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating an armed robbery of a student in Northwest, D.C.

At 4:30 p.m., a call came into the Metropolitan Police Department regarding a robbery in the 1400 block of Maine Drive, NW, just outside the DC International School.

Investigators have confirmed that the victims in this case were students. The schools executive director further confirmed two middle school students were targets.

This robbery comes after a string of robberies targeting students occurred at the same school in September of last year. Michael Rosskam, Executive Director of DC International School says student safety remains a priority at the school.

Rosskam released the following statement on Wednesday:

"At DC International School, student safety and well-being is our top priority. Today, two of our middle school students were the target of a robbery at gunpoint outside of our school near our Aspen gate (14th and Aspen Street NW). Thankfully, our students were not physically hurt. The students returned safely to our school and were supported by staff who were able to communicate with the students' families and the Metropolitan Police Department. We also were able to offer counseling support to the students impacted and to our broader student and staff community. We will continue to openly communicate with our families and work directly with community resources, including MPD and local agencies, to ensure that our school has the necessary support to keep our students and community safe."

Police say to be on the lookout for a grey Kia 4-door sedan bearing a half-torn paper tag on the bumper of the car along with the rear bumper hanging off. The suspects are believed to be two boys who are in high school.

Anyone with information may contact detectives at (202) 727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
