Police release photos of those wanted for shooting near Northwest DC school

Police said an argument led to gunfire in the parking lot of MacFarland Middle School Thursday morning.

WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police Department detectives are asking for the public's help to find four people thought to have opened fire in the parking lot of a middle school in Northwest D.C. while classes were in session. MacFarland Middle School, Theodore Roosevelt High School and Dorothy Heights Elementary School were all briefly placed on lockdown because of the shooting that was reported around 9:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Iowa Avenue Northwest. 

Officers responded to the area after witnesses reported hearing gunfire. Responding officers canvassed the scene and found two cars struck by gunfire and shell casings in the parking lot of MacFarland Middle School.

Detectives later determined that the shots were fired when a fight escalated. Someone pulled a gun a fired at someone else. No one was hit, and everyone involved ran away before police arrived.  No injuries were reported.

Detectives are looking to talk to four people caught on surveillance video. Police are calling them persons of interest. Photos from surveillance video can be seen below:

Anyone who may be able to identify the people in the photos is asked to contact MPD at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
