Retail theft ring busted in Springfield for stealing over-the-counter medications

The crew is alleged to have stolen over $50,000 of merchandise from Target stores along the East Coast.

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia — Detectives are investigating after busting a retail theft ring in Virginia. 

On July 9, just before 9 p.m., detectives responded to a Target at Springfield Mall for a theft in progress. A man and teenage girl were caught stealing over-the-counter medications. When they saw officers, both suspects sprinted in different directions inside the mall.

Both the man and teen girl were arrested. A third person was also found to be connected to the theft and arrested. 

Detectives say the crew is responsible for stealing over $50,000 worth of merchandise from Target stores along the East Coast.

Latisha Kermon, 59, of New York, was charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of larceny with intent to sell, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was taken to the detention center and held on a secured bond.

The man has been charged with three counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of larceny with intent to sell. Following his arrest, he was transported to the detention center and is being held without bond under the alias "John Doe" after refusing to provide identification.

The 17-year-old girl was charged with three counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of larceny with intent to sell. She was taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center and held.
