GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — Detectives in Prince George's County are working to determine what led up to a man being found shot dead inside a car in Landover Tuesday morning.
Prince George's County Police Department officers were first called to 75th Avenue at Landover Road for a report of a shooting just before 9:30 a.m. Once officers arrived, they searched the area and found a man shot inside a vehicle in the 7100 block of Old Landover Road. That's in the vicinity of JB Jenkins Funeral Home, but police say the shooting is unrelated to any activities there.
Employees at the funeral home told WUSA9 they were in the middle of a funeral when they heard gunfire. The employee said people ducked and ran to safety.
At least 60 evidence markers could be seen at the crime scene.
The person shot has not been identified by police. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been made public. Police have not said whether they are looking for a suspect in this case. So far, no arrests have been made.
“We do know so far, we are looking for multiple suspects that arrived and fled in a vehicle, but we are still waiting for a description of the vehicle and the suspect," a PGPD detective said at the scene.
Roads in the area were temporarily shut down to traffic while police investigated, but have since reopened.
