Shooting near Landover funeral home leaves 1 dead

Police say a man was found shot dead inside a vehicle.

GREATER LANDOVER, Md. — Detectives in Prince George's County are working to determine what led up to a man being found shot dead inside a car in Landover Tuesday morning. 

Prince George's County Police Department officers were first called to 75th Avenue at Landover Road for a report of a shooting just before 9:30 a.m. Once officers arrived, they searched the area and found a man shot inside a vehicle in the 7100 block of Old Landover Road. That's in the vicinity of JB Jenkins Funeral Home, but police say the shooting is unrelated to any activities there.

The person shot has not been identified by police. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been made public. Police have not said whether they are looking for a suspect in this case. So far, no arrests have been made. 

Roads in the area have been shut down to traffic while the investigation continues. Drivers are urged to follow police direction.
