Teen shot on Metro train, police say

The victim, who they believe is a teen, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The incident happened on Saturday night on the Green Line.

WASHINGTON — A teenage boy is in the hospital with serious injuries after he was shot on a Green Line train, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

At approximately 11:20 p.m. Saturday night, Metro Transit Police responded to the Anacostia Station after reports of a shooting. WMATA says the incident happened on board a Green Line train. The victim, believed to be a teenager, was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The investigation is impacting Metrorail service Sunday. Green Line trains are single tracking and bypassing the Anacostia station as police investigate. Free shuttle buses are available to riders, according to WMATA.

There is not any immediate threat to the public, according to Metro Transit Police. This is an ongoing investigation.
