WASHINGTON — Two men are dead after a shooting in Northeast D.C. late Monday night. Police are searching for a suspect in this case, and ask anyone who knows anything to contact them.
According to a DC Police watch commander, officers were called tot he 2300 block of 4th Street Northeast for a report of a shooting just before midnight. Once on scene, police found two men had been shot. They were pronounced dead on the scene. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to gather evidence, interview potential witnesses and continue the investigation.
On Tuesday, the men were identified as 28-year-old Octavio Quintano, of Silver Spring and 35-year-old Osmine Quintano, of Northeast, D.C.
A GoFundMe page started by family of the two men says they are brothers.
Police have not yet determined a motive for this case and no arrests have been made. Police say they are looking for a man wearing a black and white jacket in connection to the shooting, but further description was not available.
Anyone who may have information that could help detectives is asked to contact them at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in a homicide case in D.C.
According to the latest D.C. crime stats, there have been 258 homicides so far in the District this year. That's a 34% increase from this time last year, and the highest homicide rate in two decades.
