ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Police have arrested a man in Maryland who they say sexually abused a teenager working for his small business. More victims are now being asked to step forward.
Joshua Durek, 54, is charged with sexual abuse of a minor as well as third-and-fourth degree sex offenses in this case. He turned himself over to police on Aug. 23 and is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
The alleged abuse took place on Aug. 16 at Duerk's home in Ellicott City. Investigators say Durek sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy he employed. Police were notified the next day and opened an investigation.
Officers say Durek owns a small business in the area and has employed juveniles in the past. He was also a volunteer coach at Centennial High School from 2007 to 2010 and is known to regularly attend athletic events at the school.
Detectives are asking for any additional victims or anyone who may have information to come forward by contacting police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDCrimeTips@howardcountymd.gov.
