MARYLAND, USA — Police in Montgomery County are asking additional victims to step forward after a Maryland man was arrested and charged with the sexual abuse of a child. Investigators say the assaults occurred while the man was working as the child's pitching/hitting coach at The Baseball Zone in Gaithersburg.
Damon Junior Cruz, 32, of Gaithersburg, is charged with sexual abuse of a minor and displaying obscene material to a minor. Detectives are sharing his photo and urging anyone who may be a victim to come forward.
On Tuesday, April 30, members of the Montgomery County Child Welfare Services and the Montgomery County Department of Police began investigating Cruz after being made aware he had sexually abused a child.
Detectives are concerned Cruz has more victims who have not come forward.
On Thursday, May 9, Cruz was arrested and taken into custody. He has since been released on bond.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of Cruz to call police at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
