Maryland business owner charged with sex crimes

His arrest comes after several customers complained that they were touched inappropriately while inside the bakery. Detectives believe there are more victims.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — The owner of a bakery located in Silver Spring, Maryland has been arrested for allegedly touching his customers inappropriately. Police believe there may be more victims.

Officers with the Montgomery County Department of Police arrested 56-year-old Jose Melvin Mendoza following several allegations of inappropriate behavior. Mendoza is accused of touching customers inappropriately during business hours. Mendoza is the owner of Passion Bakery Café located on Bel Pre Road. 

Following these reports, an arrest warrant was issued for Mendoza.

He is charged with 13 counts of second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree sex offense-sexual contact and one count of fourth-degree sex by a person in a position of authority.

Mendoza is currently out on an unsecured bond while he awaits trial. Detectives believe there may more more victims of his and have released his photo to the public. That photo can be seen below:
