WASHINGTON — DC Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at Marvin Gaye Park in Northeast on Tuesday.

A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said officers were called to the 5200 block of Foote St. NE around 10:18 a.m. for a report of a shooting.  Once officers arrived at the scene they found a man unconscious and not breathing in the park area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The man killed has since been identified as 38-year-old Antowine Baker.

Detectives are still working to learn exactly what led up to the shooting. They were in the park Tuesday gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.

So far, no arrests have been made and investigators have not released any information about possible suspects.

Anyone who may have information that would help investigators should contact DC Police at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
