WASHINGTON — A man was shot in Southeast D.C. on the intersection of Bass Pl. and 54th St. on October 30, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The shooting happened early in the morning while he was walking to his car, police said.
Officers said they got a call at 2:34 a.m. that someone had been shot. The victim said he was walking to his car after leaving his friend’s house when he heard gunshots go off, according to police.
That’s when a dark colored sedan drove by him and someone in the car shot him in the thigh, D.C. police said.
The man called his relatives, who live nearby, and they took him to a nearby fire station to get medical treatment. He was then brought to a medical facility to receive further treatment. He is conscious and breathing, according to police.
The victim could not provide a description of whoever shot him and was not sure where they fled.
This is the 1,384th recorded assault with a dangerous weapon this year, according to M.P.D. That number is 2% higher than this time last year.
