Man run over and killed with his own car in carjacking, Prince William County Police release picture of suspect

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Prince William County Police Department is searching for the carjacker responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Dumfries.

On Saturday, officers were called to Stedham Circle for reports of a crash. When officers arrived they found 37-year-old Jose Vasquez Galvan lying in the street. 

A preliminary investigation showed Galvan was approached by someone while he was outside of his car. The suspect got inside of a gold Lexus SUV, and then put it in reverse. Galvan grabbed onto the car as it was reversing, the suspect backed into a parked car before putting the Lexus in drive. 

As the Lexus began moving forward, Galvan was thrown off and subsequently run over. The carjacker was able to get away before police arrived on the scene.  

When first responders arrived, they took Galvan to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Monday, officers were notified that Galvan passed away from injuries sustained from the carjacking. 

Police are still searching for Galvan's car and the suspect. Nearly a week later, police identified a suspect in the case as 41-year-old Keith Anthony McBride. He has yet to be found but is now wanted on charges of felony murder, felony hit and run and grand larceny auto.

The vehicle is described as a 1999 Gold Lexus RX 300 with Virginia license plate: TUW8710. The car is believed to have damage to the left side of the rear bumper, taillight, and possibly the left rim.
