WASHINGTON — A D.C. man has been found guilty of murder for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend's new partner while the two were in bed together.
Police say Marcus Walker, 23, was found guilty of second-degree murder while armed and other charges in the shooting death of Erik King on October 11, 2022.
Walker was also found guilty of two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon of a woman and 6-year-old child who were both in the room with King during the shooting, police say. In addition, he was found guilty of second-degree cruelty to children, three counts of possession of a gun during a violent crime, and possession of a magazine.
The guilty verdict was returned Tuesday, May 7 following a trial in D.C.
According to investigators, Walker was living in the living room of his ex-girlfriend's apartment when the shooting occurred. Early in the morning of Oct. 11, 2022, Walker became upset that his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, Erik King, were having sex in the bedroom of the apartment.
Walker began sending his ex texts asking her to stop for over an hour. He then burst through the locked bedroom door and told the two to stop having sex. When they did not, Walker shot King twice, once in the chest and genitals. King died inside the bedroom. A 6-year-old child was also in the bedroom when the shooting occurred.
