Wanted man charged for abducting, assaulting a victim before barricading himself inside home for 7+ hours

The victim told police she knew the man who assaulted her.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — A man is being held without bond in Fairfax County after police say he abducted and assaulted a victim and then barricaded himself inside his home for more than seven hours on Sunday.

At 2:42 p.m. on Sunday, officers were approached by a victim who reported she was just assaulted by someone she knew. The man was inside a home in the 6700 block of Chestnut Avenue in Mosby.

Investigators say the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of being attacked. She was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.

Police say initially they attempted to get the suspect to walk out of the home, but he refused. Officers learned that he may have been armed with a rifle.

After continuing to refuse the officer’s directions, officers from the Special Operations Division, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Crisis Response Team responded to assist with the barricade.

After over seven hours of negotiations, the man, later identified as Silvio Meza Jr., 33, safely surrendered around 9:45 p.m.

He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Assault, Strangulation, Abduction, Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon. He was also served an outstanding warrant for Fail to Appear in court on Possession of a Schedule I/II narcotic charge. He is being held without bond.
