During the encounter, the accused, who was armed with a handgun, attempted to pull the victim down the stairs as she was holding their infant son

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A court date is pending for a man accused of felony child abuse after he allegedly assaulted the mother of his child while she was holding their infant son. Parasha Demond Vincent Flowers faces several charges for his involvement.

On Monday, at 3:46 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 15400 block of Ewells Mill Way in Woodbridge to investigate a domestic dispute.

An investigation revealed that a 38-year-old woman and the father of her child, later identified as Vincent Flowers, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the fight, Vincent Flowers, who was armed with a gun, attempted to pull the victim down the stairs as she was holding their infant son. When the victim tried to call 911, Vincent Flowers took her phone.

At one point, Vincent Flowers attempted to physically strike her with his gun before she was able to take their infant to a neighbor's house and contact police.

Minor injuries were reported by the victim. The infant did not appear to be hurt.

Following an investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Vincent Flowers.

On Tuesday, March 5, Vincent Flowers was taken into custody by Fort Belvoir Police. He is charged with one count of robbery, one count of felony child abuse, one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of grand larceny, two counts of brandishing of a firearm, one count of preventing the summoning of law enforcement, one count of domestic assault & battery, and one count of attempted assault & battery.
