Arrest made in Southeast DC shooting, suspect charged with murder

WASHINGTON — After nearly four months, DC Police have arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting that took place in Southeast.

Tyquan Jennings was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder while armed. 

Just before 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, officers were called to the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found two people who had been shot. 

One of the victims shot was identified as 19-year-old Vonte Martin. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The second victim, a man who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown. 

Police have not released any information detailing what led up to the shooting.
