WEST SPRINGFIELD, Va. — The man accused of shooting into a day care on Wednesday is currently being held without bond after he was apprehended while trying to pick up family members at an area airport.
Detectives from the Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit arrested 41-year-old Julio Pascual Sejas at Dulles International Airport shortly after the shooting.
On Wednesday, officers responded to the 8500 block of Bauer Drive in Springfield just before 2:15 p.m. for a domestic-related shooting.
During a preliminary investigation, detectives determined that Sejas pulled up to the parking lot of the KinderCare day care to attempt to speak with his estranged wife, where she is employed. After being denied access to the day care, Sejas allegedly shot three rounds through the door, striking two employees. He fled the area before officers could arrive.
Within three hours of the shooting, officers tracked Sejas down at Dulles Airport, picking up a family member who had just arrived in Virginia. He was transported to the Adult Detention Center.
