SILVER SPRING, Md. — A man is in custody in connection to an attempted burglary and carjacking in Silver Spring. Samuel Robert Bajard, 30, is being held without bond for his alleged involvement.
Police are still searching for more suspects.
On June 9 around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to an apartment on Castle Boulevard for a report of an attempted burglary.
Investigators say Bajard and other unknown suspects tried to force their way into an apartment by kicking down the front door and throwing a rock through the window. Instead, the suspects were met by the person who lived there and doused them with bear spray. The suspects then ran away from the apartment.
On their way out, police say the suspects assaulted the driver of a Toyota Camry who had just arrived home. They stole the Toyota and drove away.
Investigators were able to identify Bajard as one of the suspects allegedly involved.
On June 13, detectives got an arrest warrant for Bajard, charging him with attempted burglary and carjacking related charges.
One week later, on Thursday, Bajard was arrested in Silver Spring and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
