Maryland deputies chase suspect into Charles County after Lexington Park shooting

Alaysia Milburn, 25, had been shot inside her home in what had been reported to law enforcement as a domestic assault Wednesday morning.

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office gave details Wednesday about a shooting that killed a Lexington Park woman and a subsequent deadly chase that ended beyond county lines.

Kenneth Price, 38, of D.C., led St. Mary's deputies on a chase up Route 5 and into Charles County, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"A Calvert County Deputy made contact with the suspect's vehicle, rendering it inoperable," St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. "The suspect briefly exited, then re-entered his vehicle and fired a single shot."

Alaysia Milburn, 25, had been shot inside her home in what had been reported to law enforcement as a domestic assault Wednesday morning. Milburn was taken to the hospital where she died, SMCSO said.

A seven-month old was inside the house where the shooting happened. The baby was taken away from the scene, "for precautionary measures," according to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened on the 46000 block of Rosewood Drive in Lexington Park was reported to deputies as a domestic assault, SMCSO arrived at around 11 a.m.. 

Neighbors led deputies to a red SUV that some said they saw flee from the scene of the shooting. 

The chase involved St. Mary's County, Charles County and Calvert County deputies as well as the Maryland State Police, eventually ending in Hughesville at around 1 p.m.

"Identification of the suspect is being withheld pending notification of next of kin," SMCSO said Wednesday afternoon.
