MANASSAS, Va. — Prince William County detectives have made an arrest in connection with the tragic deaths of a married couple found shot to death in the basement of a home in Manassas on Sunday. The suspect, Amandeep Singh, 49, was taken into custody in New Jersey after authorities were alerted to his presence at a family member's home in Burlington County. Singh has been charged with two counts of murder and several other serious offenses.
The investigation began after New Jersey authorities contacted Prince William County Police with information that Singh had been detained following an incident involving his family. This alert prompted local officers to perform a welfare check at Singh's home on Hanson Grove Court in Manassas.
When officers arrived, they found the door to the house open. A search of the home led to the discovery of two bodies in the basement, later identified as 45-year-olds Joshua Lee Davis and Nicole Wanda Lynn Davis, who were married and renting out the basement from the owners of the home. Both were found shot to death.
While investigating, detectives uncovered that Singh had been involved in a violent domestic incident the day before the murders. In that altercation, Singh allegedly held two family members, a 50-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, at gunpoint inside a bedroom of the same home. During the standoff, Singh reportedly shot a round near the women, though neither was hit by the bullet. He also physically assaulted one woman and attempted to strangle the other. The situation de-escalated when the family members were able to escape from the home, but the incident was not reported to police at the time.
Sometime after the domestic altercation, Singh allegedly shot and killed Joshua and Nicole Davis, who were known to the family, including Singh, they had no known involvement or connection in the previous dispute.
After the killings, Singh drove to New Jersey, to locate his family, but encountered other family members. They contacted police and Singh was subsequently detained.
Singh has been charged with multiple crimes, including:
- Two counts of murder
- Four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Two counts of abduction
- One count of strangulation
- One count of domestic assault & battery
- Two counts of discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling
He remains incarcerated in Burlington County, New Jersey, pending extradition to Virginia. Authorities continue to investigate the shooting.
