Juvenile arrested for shooting employee with BB gun during robbery at Dulles Town Center Mall

Deputies set up a perimeter around the mall. Dick's Sports Goods was evacuated.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — A juvenile has been arrested and charged in connection to an attempted robbery at Dulles Town Center Mall on Saturday.

On May 11, at 4:30 p.m., deputies were sent to the Foot Locker store at the mall in Virginia for a reported robbery, injured person, and a suspect who had run away. Investigators determined that the suspect left the store with stolen merchandise and shot an employee with a BB gun, twice, while trying to get away. The suspect left the BB gun and merchandise at the store before running away.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the mall after the robbery. Dick's Sporting Goods was also evacuated while deputies searched for the suspect.

No other store operations were impacted, and the mall was not closed.

The injured employee was treated by Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System and declined being taken to an area hospital for further evaluation.

Just after 5 p.m., police found the suspect near a car dealership on Russell Branch Parkway. During the altercation with the store employee, investigators say the suspect was injured. After being found, the suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment of that injury. After being released from the hospital, he was charged with Petit Larceny, Brandishing a Firearm, and Unlawful Wounding, and is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Leesburg.
