WASHINGTON — As the search continues for the shooter who killed a 14-year-old at the Brookland-Catholic University Metro station, we are hearing from the family of Avion Evans.
Metropolitan police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect pictured in surveillance video. Evans mother said she will do anything to make sure her son’s killer is caught.
While trying to find peace in a storm of grief, India Wells, has found her purpose restored while fighting for justice for her son.
“I’m just trying to keep it together for my son,” Wells said.
She says she hasn’t seen her son since receiving the news of his death. Meanwhile, her anxiety reaches its peak as she sits on her Northeast DC front porch and reflects on her loss.
“I just want to see him walking up the street or something like normal,” wells said.
14-year-old Avion Evans was shot and killed inside the Brookland-Catholic University Metro Station Thursday. Police say a group of teenagers were involved in a fight on the metro platform. The suspect, who was not involved in that fight pulled out a gun and shot Evans. Evans was pronounced dead on scene.

“I felt like I died with my son that day too,” Wells said.
Wells tells WUSA9, her son was on his way to an after-school program Thursday afternoon. She said Evans attended Ida B Wells Middle School and was always eager to explore new things.
“He likes debate,” Wells said. “He likes to run track; he likes computer graphics.”
Police are still searching for the alleged shooter captured on surveillance video.
“I hope he’s caught,” Wells said. “I hope he turns himself in because it was a senseless act.”
As she finds silence in solitude on her porch, she hopes this newfound space will plant seeds of peace.
“Very, very heartbreaking and I’m not going to sit here and breakdown because I have to stand up for him.”
