Man arrested for allegedly stabbing woman at a bus stop, good Samaritan helps police in the arrest

The witness proceeded to follow the suspect, giving officers updates, until they were able to apprehend him along Connecticut and Western avenues.

CHEVY CHASE, Md. — A woman is in the hospital in critical condition, after being stabbed near a metro station. The person accused of the crime is in custody, thanks to a good Samaritan. 

Marcus Dwayne Jackson is in police custody following a stabbing, Monday morning near the Friendship Heights Metro Station. Police arrived at 9:21 a.m. where they found the victim with stab wounds. First responders took the woman to an area hospital for help. 

During a preliminary investigation, police say, Jackson stabbed the victim while she was sitting on a bench, before running away. A good Samaritan witnessed the entire thing and called 911. 

The witness then proceeded to follow Jackson giving officers updates, until they were able to apprehend him along Connecticut and Western avenues. 

Police have not said the two knew one another or listed a motive for the stabbing. 

Jackson is being charged with attempted second-degree murder. He was taken to a detention center in D.C., where he will be extradited to Montgomery County.
