MANASSAS, Va. — A man is facing charges after police say he assaulted a family member before turning on a good Samaritan who tried to help her Tuesday night.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were called to the area of Prince William Parkway near Balls Ford Road just before 11:15 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Investigators say 23-year-old Adam Christian Stout was arguing with an 18-year-old woman he is related to when he hit her. The young woman was able to get away from Stout and flag down a good Samaritan to help her.

While helping the 18-year-old, Stout allegedly tried to hit the good Samaritan with his car. Police say Stout then got out of his car and began attacking his family member again before the good Samaritan was able to intervene.

That is when police say Stout grabbed a knife and stabbed the good Samaritan in the arm.

When officers arrived, they took Stout into custody following a short struggle. Investigators later determined that Stout was intoxicated.

The good Samaritan was taken to an area hospital for help and is expected to survive.

Stout, who is from Falling Water, West Virginia, has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, obstruction of justice, and DUI.
