'I just want my dog back'| Woman held at gunpoint, French Bulldog stolen in Southeast, D.C.

The victim told police the thief pulled out a gun, demanded her dog, then fled the scene in a car.

WASHINGTON — DC Police is asking for the community’s help finding a dog that was stolen in Southeast.

On Saturday, officers said the victim was walking her French Bulldog in the 1700 block of Fort Davis Street at 8:20 p.m. when it happened.

"This car comes swoops in like he was stealing a parking space. A guy in the back passenger seat got out and held up a gun," said Jaineen Brown.

She told WUSA9 she screamed and dropped her dog's leash.

"I'm screaming. He picked my dog up by the back of the neck, got in the car and sped up," said Brown.

Nearby surveillance cameras were able to capture the robber’s car, it looks like a black four-door sedan. The dog named Yurman is just 2 years old.

She told WUSA9 she got Yurman during the pandemic.

"He's the best boy. He's like, you don't wanna go outside? Neither do I. Oh, you want chicken? Me too," she said with a huge smile on her face.

"I will be the first to tell you that I thought this couldn't happen to me. I've never had a gun in my face before. Never, never. Just help me bring my dog home," said Brown.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. A reward of $10,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
