PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A Prince William County man has been arrested on indecent liberties charges involving a child.
Virginia State Police arrested 32-year-old Joel A. Shapiro on Thursday for an incident stemming back to 2017. State police initiated an investigation in July 2023 into allegations against Shapiro while he was a Clarke County Public School employee.
Investigators say the crime took place in Leesburg, Virginia. Shapiro was taken into custody without incident, and then later released on bond.
Police have not released any further information. At this time we do not know if this was an isolated incident or if there are more victims.
Shapiro now faces one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian.
