HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — The family of a 17-year-old shot to death in the food court of a Howard County mall says his passing has created a profound void in their lives.

Angelo Little was killed when a gunman opened fire on him during an altercations inside Columbia Mall Sunday. Police believe the 17-year-old was targeted.

Little's family shared a statement with WUSA9 Monday night, saying the teen's death has left a profound void in their lives.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him," the statement reads. "During this incredibly difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and come to terms with Angelo's loss. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and sympathy from the community, which has been a source of great comfort to us."

The family asks that friends who may want to share memories of Little to email AngeloLittle4ever@gmail.com.
