Man arrested for drunk driving at speeds of over 110 mph during deadly crash

The intersection of Clifton Road and Lee Highway remained closed for an extended period of time after the crash.

CENTREVILLE, Va. — A 22-year-old Fairfax man is under arrest for his involvement in a deadly 2023 crash on Stringfellow Road. Investigators say Gabriel Rincon was driving drunk, at over 110 miles per hour, when crashed into another car near Lee Highway (Route 29).

On Dec. 5, 2023, officers responded to the area of Stringfellow Road and Lee Highway after a report of a car crash. At the scene, officers found one driver suffering from injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have since identified the driver killed as 30-year-old Sohail Iqbal, of Manassas.

The other driver involved in the crash was taken to an area hospital to be treated for critical injuries. Authorities say that the driver has since been released and identified as Rincon.

Through an investigation, detectives determined that Rincon was traveling at speeds of more than 110 mph in a 45 mph zone before the crash with another car. It was later determined he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Police charged Rincon with DUI-Related Manslaughter and Reckless Driving. Rincon turned himself in at the Fairfax County Detention Center. He was released on his own personal recognizance.
