Woman found dead in Bethesda after police respond to domestic violence call

Police say a man has been taken into custody.

BETHESDA, Md. — Police say a woman is dead following a domestic violence call in Montgomery County late Monday night. 

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, officers were called to the 10500 block of West Lake Drive in Bethesda at 10:30p.m. for what investigators call a "suspicious situation". At 10:50 p.m. officers received a second call for a domestic-related situation at the same house. 

When officers got to the house, they found 37-year-old Shanon Barnett inside. First responders began to render aid however, Barnett was already dead upon officers arrival.

Police took 30-year-old Devon Miller into custody at the scene. Miller is Barnett's younger brother and is now being charged with the homicide of his sister. 

A cause of death has not yet been determined. Barnett's body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to learn exactly how she died. 

Miller is being held at Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
