Police: Man robbed of his Canada Goose jacket, other belongings while walking home in DC

This is just the latest instance of someone being robbed of their expensive winter jacket.

WASHINGTON — Yet another person in D.C. has been targeted and robbed of their Canada Goose winter jacket. Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call for an armed robbery on T Street on New Year's Day around 4:20 p.m.

The victim reported to police that while walking down the street, a suspect approached him from behind, pointing a rifle at his back. At the same time, a dark grey car with heavy tint and Virginia license plates pulled up next to them.

According to the victim, a second suspect got out of the car at this point, with a gun in hand. The person demanded the victim give over his belongings. When the victim hesitated, the second suspect escalated the threat, asking for additional items in his pockets. The victim complied and the suspects drove away in the dark grey car, heading east on the 400 block of T Street, Northwest. The pair made off with the man's black Canada Goose jacket, wallet with multiple credit cards inside, and grey yoga pants.

Police say the victim also claims that during the whole ordeal, the first suspect fired several rounds at an unknown person across the street. However, the victim was unsure if the person was hurt as a result.

Witnesses report hearing gunshots and seeing the grey car speed away from the scene east on T Street.

Additionally, police say a bullet fired during the robbery struck a bedroom window nearby, resulting in damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result.
