Police are searching for robbers who stole from a Southeast CVS and assaulted the security guard

Employees say the suspects took several items without paying for them. When security confronted them, one of the suspects threw a bottle, missing the guard.

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the community’s help identifying people accused of stealing from a CVS and assaulting a security guard.

On Tuesday, at 8:45 p.m., the suspects were inside a CVS located in the 1100 block of New Jersey Ave., Southeast. Employees say the suspects took several items without paying for them. When security confronted them, one of the suspects threw a bottle, missing the guard.

In videos shared with WUSA9 police can be seen arriving and clearing everyone out of the store.

CVS released a statement saying: “No customers or colleagues were hurt. The safety of our colleagues, customers and patients is our top priority and we’re committed to ensuring we have the products they need in our store. ” The store has since reopened.

Following the release of the videos from inside of the store, D.C.'s Attorney General Brian Schwalb released a statement that read “This behavior is unacceptable and disturbing. Every District resident, visitor, employee, and business deserves to feel safe in our city. Incidents like these can have far-reaching, negative impacts on victims and communities at large.”
