WASHINGTON — A 20-year-old D.C. man was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Monday for his involvement in the shooting death of Anthony Lee back in 2020.
Darquise Montgomery is the second suspect in the shooting, He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed on October 3. His co-defendant, Kyrie Wells, 21, of D.C. also pleaded guilty to the same charge in January. Wells was sentenced on April 13 to 14 years in prison for his involvement. Investigators say a third and final defendant in this shooting, Niko Hall, pleaded guilty on October 3.
According to evidence, just before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020, Anthony Lee, 25, of D.C. was walking south on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue with a friend. Three men lined up across the sidewalk behind him. As Lee crossed Malcolm X Avenue, Hall, Wells, and Montgomery drew their guns and opened fire, hitting Lee once in the back, and killing him.
Montgomery was sentenced by the Honorable Rainey Brandt of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on Monday. He is the last defendant to be sentenced in connection with this deadly shooting.
