WASHINGTON — An ATM was ripped from a storefront and destroyed in Northwest D.C. early Monday morning.

Police were called to a CVS at 3:51 a.m. after people broke the window and frame of the storefront, grabbed the ATM and destroyed it on E Street NW near Virginia Avenue. They left the ATM on the street in front of the building. In photos posted online by Doc Meyer, it appears that the entire glass wall was shattered and the glass door was pulled from the frame, breaking the frame as well.

No arrests have been made and police have not said how many people were involved or what they look like. Police say they are looking for a red vehicle but have provided no other specifics.

This CVS location is closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and therefore was not open at the time of the incident. Police have not said whether any employees were inside.
