HYATTSVILLE, Md. — An 18-year-old man is in custody in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred in Hyattsville earlier this month. Dartrell Bryant is charged with the murder of 26-year-old Jawaun Jackson of Washington, D.C.
Police say both the victim and suspect knew each other.
Byrant is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
On Sept. 19, just before 9 p.m., officers responded to 52nd Avenue in Hyattsville for a report of a man lying in the roadway. Once there, officers found Jackson. He had been shot and was pronounced dead in the roadway.
An investigation revealed Bryant as the suspect in the shooting. He was subsequently charged and arrested.

The motive remains unclear.
