Man, woman hurt in Northwest DC shooting

Police are working to learn exactly what happened.

WASHINGTON — Two people are in the hospital after a shooting in Northeast D.C. Sunday morning. Police are still working to figure out exactly what led up to the shots being fired.

Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue, near the Sankofa bookstore, for the report of a shooting just before 10 a.m. Once on scene, officers found a man and a woman had been shot. Both victims were conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital for treatment, police said. Their current conditions are not known at this time.

So far, no arrests have been made and police have not provided a detailed suspect description. Investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact them at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.

Additional details have not yet been made public.
