Police still searching for drivers in 2 deadly Montgomery Co. hit-and-run crashes

On Wednesday, officers clarified the two crashes were not connected.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Montgomery County Police are still searching for the drivers involved in separate hit-and-run crashes in the county. In both cases, police were looking for a white Acura. Police clarified that the two crashes are not related.

In the first case, investigators were called to a reported hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive on April 5 around 10 p.m.

Detectives learned that the driver of a 2023 Honda Odyssey was heading westbound on Randolph Road when it went up onto a curb for reasons still under investigation. The Odyssey hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk. The pedestrian fell into the street and was hit by a white Acura. The driver left the scene, and the pedestrian died from his injuries. He was later identified as 52-year-old Ronaldo Franzese of Silver Spring.

Police say they are confident they located the vehicle involved in the Randolph Road crash on Wednesday morning. The driver is still at large.

Days later, emergency crews responded to the area of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Drive for a report of a pedestrian struck just after midnight on April 8. The preliminary investigation found a man was riding a skateboard in the road when he was hit by an Acura TL heading westbound. Police told the public to watch for a 2009 model with front-end damage including a missing or broken headlight. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Jacques Price of Silver Spring.

Capt. Warren Jensen with the Traffic Operations Division said both crashes involve similar cars, but they are not one and the same. Jensen stressed that both investigations are still in the early stages. Investigators are still asking the public for help in both crashes.

Price's devastated father appealed for the mystery driver in the Viers Mill case to come forward.

"He was one of the best sons you could have," his father, Marcus Glivings, said. "I was very proud of him, I still am.  I'm just trying to process everything. We just want justice to be served to find the person that did this."

Anyone who may have information to share with investigators should call the Montgomery County Crash Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
