WASHINGTON — Police have arrested a 12-year-old boy for his alleged role in a robbery and assault in Northwest, D.C. that occurred in September 2023.
On Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at 9 p.m., investigators say a man was standing next to his electric bicycle in the 1300 block Irving Street, Northwest, when five suspects approached him from behind and attacked him. Police say the suspects then took the victim's electric bicycle and tried to flee.
When that man yelled for help, a second victim, who was parking his car nearby, got out of his running car to help the man. This is when one of the suspects jumped in the running car, and the four other suspects surrounded the second victim and began to assault him. Police say the suspects took the second victim's car keys, and all five suspects fled in the stolen vehicle.
On Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 12-year-old boy, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Rob and Theft One (Stolen Auto).
