DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. — Police are investigating a deadly triple shooting in District Heights Monday afternoon.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the shooting happened in the 5400 block of Marlboro Pike around 3:15 p.m.
When officers arrived in the area, they found three people who had all been shot in the parking lot of one of the businesses in the area.
One of the three victims, identified by police as Anthony Ward III, 19, of Upper Marlboro, died despite first responders efforts to save him. The other two victims, a man and a woman, were taken to an area hospital.
During a press conference, police said the second male victim is believed to be in his 60s and is currently in stable condition. Police say the woman is in her 50s and is currently undergoing surgery.
No suspect information has been released. There is no word on any possible motives or what may have happened in the moments leading up to the shooting. Police do not believe the shpooting was random.
This shooting comes the same day police announced the death of a 14-year-old girl who was hit by gunfire during another triple shooting in District Heights on May 31. Khamya Ferrell was shot, along with two other people, at the Woodland Springs Apartments on Atwood Street, less than two miles away from the Marlboro Pike shooting. Detectives are still working on identifying the gunman.
