WASHINGTON — In a scene that left many onlookers stunned, a car was found dangling partially off the edge of the Whole Foods parking garage in Tenleytown early Thursday morning.
The incident, which could have ended in disaster, fortunately resulted in no injuries, according to first responders.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the parking garage, initiating a technical rescue operation to secure the precariously positioned car. According to the authorities, there was significant cosmetic damage, but the structural integrity of the parking garage itself was not compromised.
Upon arrival, firefighters and rescue teams took control of the situation. Utilities in the area were controlled, and a safety zone was established around the garage to prevent any further accidents.
The exact circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear.
Photos from the scene show the car hanging off the edge of the garage, its front wheels suspended in mid-air, highlighting just how close the car came to plunging over the side.
