WASHINGTON — CVS is closing another D.C. location in the coming weeks.
In a statement released by Amy Thibault, the Lead Director of External Communications said the CVS Pharmacy located at 1117 10th Street Northwest will be closing on June 5.
All prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS Pharmacy located on New York Avenue, about a quarter mile from the current location. People currently employed at the 10th Street location will be offered other roles within the company.
At the beginning of the year, CVS announced that they would be closing three locations throughout the city between February and April.
With every closure, CVS says the closures are part of its plan to reduce store and pharmacy density. They are basing their evaluation on changes in population, consumer buying patterns, and future health needs.
Despite a fourth closure, there will still be nearly 50 CVS Pharmacy locations across D.C. for residents to shop at and pick up their prescriptions from.
