9+ ways to ring in the New Year that won't break the bank

Forget the party. Let's spend New Year's on the couch.

WASHINGTON — This year avoid big crowds and spending a fortune by staying home for New Years.

There are several ways to celebrate the new year in style without having to break the bank.

Here are 9+ ways to ring in 2024:

Smash a plate

  • Say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024 with this cathartic, low-cost exercise.
  • All you need is a plate and a permanent marker.
  • Go ahead and write down all the things you want to leave behind in 2023 on the plate, then smash away.

Vision Board

  • In case vision boards are totally new to you, no worries, they are actually incredibly simple to make.
  • Vision boards are used to help you creatively think through your goals for the upcoming year and can be made online or by using old magazines, newspapers, etc. laying around the house.
    • To make one, go ahead and brainstorm everything you want to achieve in the New Year as well as any thoughts or feelings you wish to bring to life.
    • After setting your goals, it's time to collect images and words that represent those goals.
    • Once you've compiled all the things you'd like to include, you can arrange it the way you find most visually pleasing.

8. Clean out closet and donate clothes you didn't wear last year.

  • For this project, you'll need something to paint on, paint itself, and your favorite beverage.
