CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — Baseball may be over for the season, but one hometown hero is still celebrating his World Series win with the Texas Rangers. He's bringing that positivity back home to Virginia.
Anthony Wayne Beasley, aka Tony, is from Caroline County, Virginia. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles back in 1989 and even had a coaching stint with the Nats in 2006.
Fast forward to this year, and Beasley helped the Rangers win the fall classic as a third base coach. He's now baseball's longest-tenured base coach.
Beasley's 30-plus-year road to a World Series victory wasn't always an easy one. In 2015, he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, but he was able to return fully with the Rangers the following season. He even sang the national anthem on Opening Day that year.
Beasley is a champion on and off the baseball diamond, and his strong sense of faith and positive outlook on life is what true champions are made of. Congratulations on your well-deserved win, Coach Beasley!
