'Singing Tree' returns to Ballston neighborhood | Get Uplifted

The high-tech tree responds to music.

ARLINGTON, Va. — We are once again feeling uplifted by the spirit of the holiday season. Arlington was full of holiday cheer on Wednesday, when the Ballston Singing Tree returned to Welburn Square.

The high-tech tree lights up and puts on a show when it hears music. The Arlington Children's Choir was on hand to help it light up by singing Christmas carols like "Frosty The Snowman." The tree showed off its beautiful lights in response. You can do that too, when you come visit.

"You can come by, you can just talk to the tree. You may have to talk a little loud, but it will respond back to you with the lights as well," said Tina Leoni, CEO of the Ballston Business Improvement District.

The tree has a total of 1,200 lights, and will be on display for you to check out through the new year. If you're feeling up to it, stop by and sing some tunes! The tree is located right near the Ballston Metro station.
