WASHINGTON — We're excited to share with you one more way the WUSA9 Weather team is working to keep you safe and informed ahead of any weather threat heading towards the DMV.
It’s always our goal to make sure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information about the weather and its impact on you. The new WUSA9 Weather Impact Alerts will be just that - alerts as far in advance as possible, so that you can be armed with accurate information to keep yourself and your family safe.
When will we see weather impact alerts?
You might see our meteorologists call for a weather impact alert for an entire day. That means significant weather is coming and you need to take action. Or you might see us call for a weather impact alert for a few hours during a particular day, meaning you might need to adjust some plans during that time frame. Weather Impact Alerts are meant to inform you of both severe and nuisance weather, so you have a heads up to any weather that might impact you, your family and how you plan for the day.
An alert may also be called for when our weather team sees a dynamic situation developing and we want to let you know you'll need to check back with us frequently to get the latest reports.
In all alert situations, WUSA9 will arm you with details on when the threat is coming, what the impact will be to you and what you need to do.
