WASHINGTON — WHEN:
- Tuesday 6 a.m. - noon
- Wednesday 6 a.m. - noon
IMPACT:
- Widespread light to moderate rain
- Slow morning commute
- Wet at the bus stop
NEED TO KNOW:
- Leave extra time for your morning drive
- Keep an umbrella handy
An area of low pressure over the Great Lakes and Midwest will approach the DMV over the next several days. This will keep our skies grey and showers in the forecast. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the wettest with widespread rain in the morning, but still not a washout of a day by any means.
Most of the wet weather will clear out by noon, but plan on the afternoons being overcast with some light showers and areas of drizzle.
Scattered showers are in the forecast Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, but most of the day will be dry -- we could even see a little bit of sunshine.
The forecast toward the end of the week and weekend will largely depend on the track soon-to-be Tropical Storm Helene takes. We will have high pressure to our north which should help keep the storm to our south and west.
TIMELINE:
Tuesday 9:00 a.m.
Plan on widespread light to occasionally moderate rain during much of the Tuesday morning commute.
Tuesday 12:00 p.m.
Showers will start to clear out shortly after lunchtime and we'll be left with overcast skies and a few areas of light rain and drizzle into the evening.
Wednesday 9:00 a.m.
Another morning with fairly widespread rain. Even a rumble of thunder is possible.
Wednesday 12:00 p.m.
Once again, showers will wind down around lunch time. And much of the afternoon will be dry.
HOW MUCH RAIN?
These light rounds of rain won't amount to much. A measly couple of tenths of an inch of rain is all it will amount to.
