WASHINGTON — A very strong cold front will blast through the DMV overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning. Winds will gust well over 40 mph late Wednesday night and remain strong all of Thursday. There is not a lot a moisture with this front but a few pre-dawn rain or snow showers will move through the Metro Area quickly.

Blustery wind will continue to kick up late Wednesday evening and last into the overnight hours. Expect gusts of 25 - 35 mph with some locally stronger gusts possible.

The strongest wind will roll through as the front pushes east into the DMV Thursday morning. This is when winds will gust 30 - 40 mph + for much of the area.

It will remain very windy throughout the afternoon with gusts between 30 - 40 mph.

By Thursday evening wind will taper off slightly, but remain very noticeable through Friday.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for much of the DMV ahead of the potential of tree damage and power outages.
The strong winds coupled with falling temperatures Thursday will generate some low wind chills.

The wind chills Thursday morning will be the highest of the entire day. Think coat, scarf, gloves and layers before you or the kids leave the house.
