WASHINGTON — A cold front arriving Thursday will bring in our next round of rain. Some mixed precipitation is possible in higher elevations of the Alleghenies.
When:
- Thursday 12:00 pm - Friday 7:00 am
Impact:
- Periods of light to moderate rain
Need to Know:
- Slow commutes possible Thursday pm and Friday am
- Outdoor activities will need adjusted Thursday pm
Timeline:
Thursday 12:00 pm
Showers will push east of I-81 after lunchtime Thursday. Rain will be generally light at the onset.
Thursday 6:00 pm
Plan on steady showers throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Pockets of moderate to occasionally heavy rain will arrive during the evening commute.
Friday 12:00 am
Steady showers continue through the overnight hours.
Friday 6:00 am
Showers will taper off Friday morning, but plan ahead for light rain during the morning commute and wet roads. By late morning rain will be gone and skies will clear throughout the remainder of the day.
How much rain?
A much needed .5" - 1" of rain is expected when all is said and done.
While any little bit helps, the rain Thursday into Friday will not make a huge dent in our ongoing drought conditions as rain totals for the fall area about 5" below where they should be.
