WASHINGTON — Did you pack up your rain gear? Make sure to bring it out again.
Severe weather and downpours with early evening storms will make another round in the DMV.
Metro Washington and other parts of the DMV are under an ‘enhanced’ risk of severe weather, according to the national weather service. Thunderstorms that will move across our region may cause widespread wind damage to some areas.
Additionally, isolated tornadoes and some large hail may accompany some storms. Damaging winds may lead to downed trees and limbs and isolated power outages.
We have issued a Yellow Weather Alert for today, starting at 3 p.m. until midnight.

Flooding is possible for metro Washington, too. Isolated spots may see 1 to 2 inches of rain, leading to flooded roads, a rapid rise in streams and creeks, and high water in flood-prone areas
A flood watch has been issued for much of metro Washington this afternoon and evening.
Timing
Now until 2 p.m.:
Expect rain free skies, hot and humid conditions.
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.:
Isolated storms, mainly western Maryland, West Virginia, and across the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Some severe storms will pop-up in this area.
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
Storms will move east into western parts of metro Washington, much of Northern Virginia, and central Maryland. Some severe storms in this period.
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.:
Numerous showers and storms across metro Washington, some severe storms and heavy rain.
10 p.m. to midnight:
Lingering downpours, easing toward midnight. Flooding threats may continue. Severe weather threat eases.
After midnight:
Rain will ease to light showers and clear away.
